CMHA is pleased to announce the award of $5,000 from the AT&T Foundation. CT State Representative Peter Tercyak championed the grant, which will enable CMHA to purchase 75 wireless notebook computers to improve services for clients.
Our clinicians will use the notebooks in the field to meet with nearly 700 clients annually who deal with disabilities or challenges that limit their ability to access care in CMHA offices. The notebooks are part of our new technology initiative and implementation of an electronic medical records system, which enhances clinicians’ ability to assess client progress, to review medications and medical conditions, and help to eliminate costly clerical time and paperwork.
“Through Representative Tercyak's support and the AT&T Foundation's generosity, CMHA is bringing telemedicine technology to community behavioral healthcare. With these new notebooks, decisions will be made in the field with greater accuracy and efficiency, thereby providing better care to our clients,” said CMHA President & CEO Ray. Gorman. The laptops will help the agency to better comply with new federal electronic medical records guidelines. And the cost savings inherent in electronic health care are important in the current climate of low health insurance reimbursement and state and federal cutbacks.
“CMHA provides critical care to the New Britain community, and these new laptops will make it easier for them to continue providing children and families with the vital mental health and support services they need,” said Rep. Tercyak. “CMHA really needs all the support it can get in this difficult economy when more people than ever need their help. AT&T deserves special recognition and thanks for continuing their philanthropy and community investment in this tough economy.”
