The CMHA
Outpatient Program provides a complete array of behavioral
health services. Services are provided in both New Britain
and Bristol. These services include assessment, psychotherapy
and medication management services to individuals, families
and groups that are experiencing serious problems with mental
illness and/or substance abuse. Services are provided according
to a treatment plan developed by the client and the clinician.
Services are provided to individuals aged 18 and over, and
priority is given to individuals who are part of the Department
of Mental Health and Addiction Services target population;
those with serious mental illness and/or substance abuse who
are poor and had long term difficulties with addictions and
mental illness.
CMHA utilizes
evidence-based practices such as DBT, Motivational Enhancement
Therapy, and Trauma Sensitive Programming, as well as Cognitive
Behavioral Therapies These services are provided in an effort
to assist the individuals we serve to acquire or regain
the skills necessary to actively and consistently engage
in the process of recovery. Services are provided directly
by CMHA, in collaboration with other CMHA programs, other
behavioral health care providers, the immediate and surrounding
communities, the consumer’s natural support systems
and with the consumer’s themselves.
Services are
provided by Licensed and Master’s Prepared Clinicians
in the disciplines of Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy,
and Counseling. Clinicians are trained in Addictions and
Behavioral Health. Psychiatric services are provided by
Psychiatrists and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs).
