Intensive Outpatient
Program (IOP) For Co-Occurring Disorders

The CMHA
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides behavioral
health services to those individuals with serious mental
illness and substance abuse. The program runs for 4
hours a day - minimum 3 days a week and is offered to those
individuals who would benefit from a structured treatment
setting. The IOP focus is to reduce symptoms, improve
overall functioning, prevent loss of independent or supportive
living arrangements, prevent relapse and/or reduce substance
use and avoid hospitalization. Services are provided
according to a treatment plan developed by the client with his
or her clinician and psychiatrist.
In Group Therapy various treatment
topics will be addressed including: Emotional Self-Management,
Symptom Management, Recovery Enhancement, Time Management, and
Discharge Planning. Psychiatric Services, medication
management and coordination of care is available to all
clients along with step down services. Services are provided
to individuals aged 18 and over and priority is given to
individuals who are part of the Department of Mental Health
and Addiction Services target population.
CMHA Intensive Outpatient
Program utilizes evidenced based practices such as
Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Trauma Sensitive
programming, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies. These
services are provided to assist individuals to acquire or
regain the skills necessary to actively engage in the process
of recovery and health based behaviors. Services are provided
directly by CMHA staff, in collaboration with other CMHA
programs, other behavioral health care providers in the
immediate and surrounding communities, the consumer’s natural
support systems and with the consumers themselves. Services
are provided by Licensed and Masters Prepared Clinicians who
are trained in co-occurring disorders. Psychiatric services
are provided on site.
