Parkview II at the
Highlands (PVII) - New Britain - (860) 223-1922
This 15 bed,
intensively supervised program is designed for individuals
who have previously lived in state hospitals, and have been
prevented from community living by medical or severe behavioral
challenges. Parkview II-at-the-Highlands offers a 24-hour
staffing pattern that provides a high level of supervision,
intervention and support, and specifically addresses monitoring
the self-administration of medication; coordination and
monitoring of medical/dental conditions and treatment; socialization
through individual and group activities; continuous and
consistent support and assessment by staff to help residents
develop goals; groups to focus on skill-building and other
relevant topics; counseling needs; recreational activities,
assistance with the management of finances; and linkages
to appropriate community service providers. The program
is staffed with a Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator,
an Occupational Therapist, Nurses, Residential Counselors
and Monitors. Residents are involved in coordinated recovery
plans that focus on habilitation or rehabilitation, and
which assist the resident in moving on to other, more independent
living and working environments in the community of their
choosing. Length of stay varies by individual need and desire,
but averages approximately 18 months.
