Opportunity for Rehabilitation and Treatment at Home (WORTH)
965 South Main Street - Waterbury, CT 06706 - (203) 596-9724
The WORTH
program is an Extended Day Treatment Program which operates
in Waterbury. It provides comprehensive clinical services,
five days a week, after school, to children, adolescent and
their families in Greater Waterbury. Services are designed
to serve children in transition back to the community from
a hospitalization or residential placement; or those who are
at risk of such placement due to the inability of the caregiver
to manage the behavior of the child in the home.
Clients range in age from 6 to 17, and are treated in two
tracks to assure developmentally appropriate interventions
are provided. Appropriate referrals are children or adolescents
who have serious and longstanding behavioral and/or emotional
difficulties including aggression, suicidality and depression,
thought disorders, severe histories of trauma and its consequences,
and school failures or truancy. Children in the program are
often in a foster care placement, or in transition to permanent
placement.
Services include group, family and individual therapies, case
management, life skill and therapeutic recreation, behavior
modification programming, psychiatric assessment, medication
management and discharge planning. Family Therapy is offered
as frequently as weekly. Meals are provided, and coordination
with The Department of Children and Families, as well as other
community providers and the school are an integral part of
treatment.
The program is staffed by a Program Coordinator, Child Psychiatrist,
Licensed Clinicians, and Child Care Workers. The Program hours
are Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM, with services from
2:30 to 5:30. Summer hours are from 10:30 to 1:30.
