Family
Connections is an intensive outpatient program that supports
children and their families in an effort to avoid hospitalizations,
to make the transition from hospitalization, and to improve
their functioning at home, school and in the community. The
program is designed to serve children aged 6 to 17 who lack
impulse control, are assaultive or violent, truant or school
avoidant, depressed or suicidal, psychotic or thought disordered,
or who are victims of trauma, abuse or neglect and its consequences.
Services are provided in two tracks to insure that they are
developmentally appropriate.
Services are provided by a team consisting of a Child Psychiatrist,
Licensed Social Workers and Family Therapists, and Mental
Health Workers. The program is an intensive, structured after-school
program that provides comprehensive psychiatric and psychosocial
assessment, group, family and individual therapy, in-home
family therapy as indicated, medication management, behavior
modification and life skills training and therapeutic recreation.
There is year round programming, case management and comprehensive
discharge planning and referral.
The program hours are from 10 AM to 6 PM, with services provided
between 2:30 and 5:30, Monday through Friday.
