Connections II (Waterbury)

Family Connections II is an intensive outpatient
program that supports children and their families in avoiding
hospitalizations, making the transition from hospitalization,
and in improving their functioning at home, school and in
the community. The program is designed to serve children aged
6 to 9 who lack impulse control, are assaultive or violent,
truant or school avoidant, depressed or suicidal, psychotic
or thought disordered, or who are victims of trauma, abuse
or neglect.
Services are provided be a team consisting of a Child Psychiatrist,
Licensed Social Workers and Family Therapists, and Mental
Health Workers. The program is an intensive, structured after-school
program that provides comprehensive psychiatric and psychosocial
assessment, group, family and individual therapy, medication
management, behavior modification and life skills training
and therapeutic recreation. There is crisis assistance, year
round programming, case management and comprehensive discharge
planning and referral. Program hours are from 9 AM to 5 PM
with services provided between 1:30 and 4:30.
